Doreen Sawyer BSc (Hons) Cert Ed
Doreen has an extensive background in both business and education, with over 40 years’ experience in administration, book-keeping, secretarial work and training in particular. Some of the disciplines she has worked in include management, staff training, NHS, Child Protection, Construction Industry, Insurance, research, mental health, and education. She has expertise in a range of subject areas, and is a qualified Teacher, Trainer, Assessor and Internal Verifier, specialising in NVQ work.
She is used to liaising with people at all levels, national and international, and has been a representative on strategy and working groups for qualification development and in the process of regulation. She has employed her own staff and managed teams within her various work roles.
Doreen has been involved at national level with Regulation of Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Reiki, and has a sound understanding of the regulatory process for therapists. She has been personally involved with the setting of National Occupational Standards for Reiki, with the associated Core Curriculum and has acted as Educational advisor for other Complementary Therapy organisations.
As a qualified and experienced Therapist, Doreen now prefers to offer Reiki treatments, in addition to a wide range of training courses. She is a CNHC Registered Reiki Practitioner.
Doreen is co-author of a chapter about Reiki for “Foundations of Complementary Therapies and Alternative Medicine” which was edited by Robert Adams and aimed at medical professionals in training. She has written numerous articles about Reiki which have been published in healthcare magazines, and has written and edited newsletters for various organisations over the years.
She is a public speaker and able to give talks about Reiki or related subjects. Some of her major talks were given at:
